Population Data

Population Distribution Model is an important complementary element of mapping data for wireless networks planning and optimization.  This model enables to process values of population distribution with level of details from countrywide areas to separate cities.

 

Input data:

  • Land Use Model (Clutter)
  • Administrative Boundaries
  • Population Census Data

 

Formats:

Population Distribution Model can be delivered in the any popular format of RF planning tool or GIS as:

  • Vector Model
  • Raster model

 

Population Distribution Model may include:

  • Population quantity for each administrative unit (Vector Model)
  • Population density per area units (Raster model)
  • Population density per each cell of the raster grid

 

Technology of Vector Model production:

Census data is geocoded, i.e. population quantity values are assigned to each administrative boundary of settlements, districts etc. Then clutter model and vector boundaries layer are processed by Visicom own-developed technology.

Vector Model can be used as an autonomous product for analysis of population distribution per administrative divisions.

 

Technology of Raster model production:

For calculation of raster model there are two input layers applied: clutter, or land use model (only classes that are related to the built-up areas) and experimentally obtained coefficients that assign proportions of population density for different clutter classes.

With application of above-mentioned coefficients in conjunction with vector boundaries of settlements and the grid of built-up clutters, the calculation is being conducted individually for each settlement. Resulting values are outputted in the form of a raster model with preassigned cell size. Population density value is assigned with each cell of matrix.
